UpcomingTrips is a search index for travel trips already advertised publicly by organisers across Africa. This page says what we collect from you, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to delete it. Plain language because the point is that you understand it.

Who we are

UpcomingTrips is operated from Lagos, Nigeria. Contact us at hello@upcomingtrips.africa.

What we collect

  • Nothing, if you only browse. Searching, comparing and reading trip pages needs no account.
  • Your email and name when you create an account or use Continue with Google. Google shares only your email address, name and profile picture with us — nothing else in your Google account.
  • Your interest — the trip, your name, email and any note — when you tap “I'm interested” on a trip, so we can pass it to the organiser.
  • Cookies for two things: a session cookie so you stay signed in, and, only if you accept the cookie banner, a tracking cookie so we can see which ads brought people here. Both are first-party. We use no third-party cookies you didn't consent to.
  • Standard log data — your IP address, the pages you looked at, roughly when — kept for a few weeks to run the site and spot abuse.

What we do with it

  • Sign you in and keep your saved trips and comparisons across your devices.
  • Pass interest to the organiser of the specific trip you told us you want.
  • If you accepted the cookie banner, send anonymised conversion events to Meta, TikTok, X and Google Analytics — used only to measure whether an ad campaign worked. You can withdraw consent at any time from the “Cookies” button in the corner.
  • Nothing else. We do not sell your data. We do not build a profile of you to sell to anyone.

Trip organisers

When you register interest in a trip, we share your name, email, travellers count and any note with that trip's organiser so they can contact you. That's the whole point of the button. Each organiser is a separate business and their handling of your information is their own responsibility once we've passed it on.

How long we keep it

  • Account details until you ask us to delete them.
  • Trip interest records for two years, so we can help if a dispute comes up.
  • Server logs for around six weeks.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@upcomingtrips.africa from the address on the account and we'll act within 30 days. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Children

UpcomingTrips is not aimed at children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we materially change how we handle your data we'll update this page and, for anyone with an account, email you before the change takes effect. See also our Terms of use.
